the Grinch is alive and well and living in Edinburgh.
Yep, its me!
The weather and illness means I am losing volunteers daily with gift wrapping - yesterday I put in 11 hours but I have to tell you I couldnt have done it without my utterly fabulous stepdaughter who came at 10 and just stayed and stayed and in the end only left when I made her go at 6pm. My parents too were worrying about me so they came and kept us fed and watered and helped wrap too.
The volunteers helping are amazing - so they are. If they can get to the Gyle they do so to help us.
That's what makes it hard when folk say to us our gift wrapping is expensive! Expensive?? You have just spent money on the gift - we are asking for a donation (suggestion is £1 per gift) and we wrap it, ribbon it, and tag it. And we do it hour after hour for no benefit to us.
Indeed we all have a sore back and sore feet - the tables are an awkward height.
To balance things a little there are lots and lots of people who are so kind to us - one lady brought us a chocolate orange to share, another offered to get us coffee and there are quite a few who give us big donations. And we get good banter too.
I do a lot of teenagers pressies and for a small donation if they agree to ask for the TCT education person to come into their school to talk to them!
Hey, its worth a try.
well brekkie calls - got a long day ahead and actually feeling more positive today than I have done for a while.
Pressies to wrap?
Bring em on!
